The Company of Biologists is an independent not-for-profit, charitable organisation which publishes a series of distinguished and well established journals in the biological sciences.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and talented Marketing Associate to make a vital contribution to the Company’s continuing success. Based in Cambridge, this newly created position represents a great opportunity for someone looking for a next step in marketing. Reporting to an experienced Sales and Marketing Manager, you will have the opportunity to enhance your responsibilities, increase your experience and work independently in delivering the Company’s marketing strategy.

Core responsibilities include:
• Managing the Company’s exhibition programme and attendance at conferences worldwide
• Developing marketing campaigns for the Company’s journals, with a particular focus on our new journal, Disease Models & Mechanisms
• Promoting the Company’s programme of charitable giving
• Attracting advertising revenue for the journals and special projects

Applicants will already have experience of working within a marketing team, preferably in the STM publishing sector. They should demonstrate real understanding of the planning and implementation of marketing campaigns through traditional and digital channels. A marketing qualification would be an advantage but hands-on experience is essential.

The successful candidate will have the freedom to develop the role according to their own strengths and interests within this general remit and in accordance with the Company’s strategy. Essential requirements are enthusiasm, commitment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a confident approach to innovation. The role requires frequent international travel.
