An excellent opportunity has arisen at this well-known, highly successful publisher of children’s books for an experienced Editor who is passionate about children’s publishing. Based in London, you will report to the senior editor, the overall purpose of this role will be to produce a range of titles across all lists on schedule, to budget and to the highest possible editorial standards.

 

Duties included in the role will be editing, copy-editing and proof-reading allocated scripts, or to write text for allocated projects, generate new ideas for appropriate markets, prepare the scheduling of individual titles/projects, ensuring all relevant deadlines are met, and undertake specific commissioning tasks as required, under the supervision of the senior Editor.

 

Other responsibilities involve dealing with castings’ with Brand Managers during the development of a product and develop a sound knowledge of the consumer and retail markets and competitions. The successful candidate will have experience in children’s publishing, ideally with licensed characters, or children’s fiction, have excellent project management skills, being able to manage multiple projects and a varied workload; used to working in a busy environment, have excellent organisational and communication skills and remain calm under pressure.
