An exciting opportunity to work for a book production company serving the international publishing industry as a Production Manager, reporting to the UK board you will be required to head up and manage a team providing outsource book production services to a group of small publishers and book packagers.

Key skills are: plan and manage workloads within the team, motivate staff to achieve the best for themselves and their client publishers.

You will essentially have: production management experience, sound technical knowledge of all aspects of conventional book production, origination, proofing, CTP, colour correction, proofing, familiarity with the demands of 4-colour co-edition book publishing, ability to colour correct and press pass accurately and understanding of book costings, shipping process and costs, up to date knowledge of potential safety issues for all manufactured product.

Core management competencies include: the ability to prepare an agenda and chair or attend company meetings, maintain an understanding and awareness of their market, customers and competitors and ensure this knowledge is shared with the team, a clear knowledge of the business strategy and company objectives and communicate these to the team, plan and organise individual and team work efficiently and effectively and delegate appropriately.

As a service company, you will need to be an effective communicator and self motivated, well organised and enthusiastic about the industry, able to maximise profitable sales of production service and provide a high level of quality service to their customers.
