The job: A new, innovative company, with the aim of  providing medical information for children, is planning to appoint a highly creative and experienced publishing person (actual job title to be agreed) to manage  all publishing aspects of the business including coordinating their exciting range of projects, managing the off-line and on-line content generation for their comic book series, information pamphlets, brochures, and web-based products. The person appointed will be fully involved in all aspects of project development and production of publications, including creation of text to explain an extensive range of childhood diseases and describe their treatment, copy writing, editing and proofreading copy; liaison with authors, and ensuring deadlines are met; and working closely with the Art Director on design and illustrations.

The person: Ideally with a sound knowledge of the publishing industry, and substantial experience of medical writing, the successful candidate will ideally hold a tertiary qualification in biological or medical science, and a knowledge of pathophysiology and drug therapy would be extremely useful. With strong editorial and project management skills, a knowledge of print and online production processes and a good appreciation of style and design, candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent ability to write creative copy. An awareness of, and interest in, the needs and issues associated with the medical care of children would be a positive advantage. The job holder will need to be highly motivated and well-organised, as well as a committed team player, with a flexible attitude to task management, and ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines. Confident communication ability at all levels, excellent computer literacy, and an exceptional eye for detail, are other important requirements for this busy and challenging role.
