The Publishing division of this much esteemed society is looking to recruit an experienced Production Editor. Based in London in very comfortable surroundings you will join a busy journals department which currently handles production of approximately 18 journals.

Reporting to the Publishing manager, your responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining high editorial and production standards on several journals, you will get involved with many stages of the publishing process , from receiving accepted manuscripts through to bound copies and online publication, including copyediting (mainly on-screen); sizing illustrations , proofreading, scheduling, dealing with freelancers, typesetting, printers and online hosts. You will liaise with authors and editors and attend some Editorial Board meetings.

This is a challenging and varied post and the successful candidate should have at least 1yr’s experience in a journal production environment, excellent copyediting proofreading and project management skills, excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively, good PC skills and the ability to learn new systems.
