Our client, a prestigious academic journal publisher, has a vacancy for a Publisher to cover sabbatical leave for a fixed term period of three months.

Reporting to the Editorial Director, the Publisher will oversee the growth and development of journals and an abstract data base in Engineering, Computing & Technology. The list includes several key titles embracing the areas of ergonomics and human factors, design, manufacturing and production research, control and systems science, electronics engineering, computer science and AI, enterprise information systems, civil engineering, medical engineering, and fashion design and technology.

The Publisher, in tandem with the Editorial Director, will manage a four-person editorial team: two Managing Editors and two Publishers. The role demands energy and creative flair, sound commercial acumen, and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be able to demonstrate extensive journals management and acquisitions experience. Familiarity with the Engineering, Computing & Technology, and market awareness in these subject areas will be an advantage. An understanding of journals finance and strategy is also important, as is the ability to work with confidence, flexibility, initiative and independence, while playing an integral role in a professional publishing team.
