The job: A leading global publisher of highly respected education/academic products with first class list that includes both print and electronic products is seeking to appoint a Technical Manager for their innovative ELT list. They are looking for someone with the expertise to ensure that all digital products are technically advanced, robust and scalable. Working closely with Project Managers and software developers, the person appointed will be responsible for translating requirements from editorial teams into detailed technical and functional specifications. They will play a key quality assurance role as products are developed and take on responsibility for technical support.

The person: A degree level qualification in an IT related subject and hands-on experience in the development of web / multimedia applications are essential. Experience of English language teaching and/or publishing would be preferred. Also needed are a good working knowledge of Flash, XML., HTML, CSS and working knowledge of PHP or Java and relational databases such as MySQL or SQL Server. Experience of software testing and QA and of providing technical support to end-users/customer support are also a must. Working knowledge of Adobe Director, Flex and or AIR would be an advantage. 

Salary: c. £27 – 29k
