British Library Publishing produces over 30 titles a year alongside a range of Audio CDs created in conjunction with the British Library Sound Archive. By maximising sales revenue in this area, you’ll generate essential funds that will help to support the Library’s future.

Reporting to the Commercial Manager for Shop and Publishing and working closely with the marketing team, the Business

Development Manager role is responsible for meeting revenue targets by broadening the market for new and backlist titles and establishing new sales channels.

With a demonstrable track record in meeting/exceeding sales targets and developing business from non-traditional channels, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the annual sales strategy across all domestic and international channels to support revenue targets.

Your role will involve securing sales and building relationships with existing and new client accounts. You will also be required to expand existing relationships with agents in our worldwide supply and distribution chain.

We are looking for a sales professional with first rate business planning skills and an entrepreneurial flair who has experience at strategic and account development level.

You will be a skilled influencer, with a demonstrable track record of deal making and successful upward negotiation and the ability to develop strategic partnerships to increase revenue, profitability and reputation. Ref: SMC00056.
