This is a fantastic opportunity to join the British Library retail team and play a key role in the commercial success of the Library. Supporting the Shop Floor Manager and working closely with the shop team, you will be responsible for the selection, purchase and ongoing maintenance of the book stock in order to drive sales and increase the profitability of the British Library Shop.
Having worked as an Assistant Manager or Senior Bookseller, you will have significant experience in book buying allied with staff management experience and exceptional customer care skills.
Extensive experience of EPOS and stock control systems and a sound understanding of sales and purchasing budgeting are requirements of the role, as well as the commercial drive, determination and enthusiasm to achieve targets.
You will be passionate about selling books and have a track record of implementing new ideas. This will be combined with excellent organisational skills and experience of running book and author events.
This is a full-time, permanent role which will require a flexible approach to working hours, including the requirement to work occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays.
