Our client is a leading London-based publisher and is currently looking for a talented Editor to join its Educational Imprint. The chosen candidate would work across the Secondary Science list for the schools market and would involve project management and some commissioning.

The scope of the role would be to build on the company’s highly successful list by commissioning new titles, as well as being involved in the management and delivery of titles on the list. The products commissioned will be both print and digital and will be highly market-focused to gain commercial success.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Project managing both print and digital projects on time and to budget
• Create, present and commission new ideas to increase the list’s profitability
• Approaching new authors, and nurturing a relationship with them as well as managing freelance staff
• Set and adhere to budgets, as well as creating costings for projects
• Work closely with the sales team to ensure the projects are commercially viable and successful
• Visiting schools and teachers to understand the secondary science market
• Keep abreast of market trends and information as well as on competitor titles

The successful candidate will have significant experience working in editorial; ideally on an educational list, but non-fiction would also suit.

Candidates must demonstrate their ability to project manage effectively across a variety of products. This will include the successful management of freelancers and excellent time-management.

The ideal applicant will have a creative mind, ideas led with the desire to create innovative new products for a dynamic and successful list.
