The publisher is internationally renowned and now looking to appoint a Production Editor (9 month contract) to work within their professional trade books division. Working in modern offices near central Oxford, this is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for producing books to schedule.

You will have responsibility for scheduling, project management, obtaining quotes, negotiating and placing work with suppliers, briefing copy-editors, typesetters and printers etc., preparing technical specifications, preparing costs, copy-editing cover copy, checking proofs and artwork, ensuring quality is maintained through production process, ensuring copy-editing, figure re-drawing, proof-reading, indexing and typesetting are maintained in collaboration with the Project Editor and Commissioning Editor.

You will be of graduate calibre, with experience in STM and/or professional trade books. You will also have knowledge of four-colour printing and book layout and design issues, ideally experience in trade publishing and copy editing skills. You will have a meticulous eye for detail, be used to taking your own initiative but working within a team, be numerate and able to produce, monitor and assess estimates/costs and work within budget. Your IT skills should include MS Office, Lotus Notes, and familiarity with Internet. If you have knowledge of four-colour print, book layout, design issues, and worked in trade publishing that would be highly desirable.
