Penguin US bolsters children's unit
Penguin Group (USA) has hired two prominent publishing executives to bolster its children's division.
Don Weisberg, former president of the Random House Sales Group and a member of Random House's executive team, was named president of Penguin Young Readers Group, taking over from Doug Whiteman, who will become executive vice president of business operations for Penguin.
Barbara Marcus, former president of children's-book publishing and distribution at Scholastic Corp, was named strategic adviser. Marcus has been serving as a consultant to Penguin and has known Weisberg for 25 years.
