Apology: APSBG conference
The report on the APSBG conference (The Bookseller, 23rd March) contained the following quote mistakenly attributed to Palgrave Macmillan m.d. Dominic Knight: "This conference used to be about publishers versus booksellers. Now it is about publishers versus publishers, because booksellers used to be viewed as a necessary evil-and now perhaps they aren't so necessary." This statement was made by another attendee at the conference, not Dominic Knight, and was reported in error. The Bookseller apologises for the mistake. The report on the APSBG conference also contained extensive quotes from Michael Holdsworth's keynote address, which was not attended by The Bookseller. The comments attributed to him in our conference coverage were not made at the APSBG but were taken from an article written for future
publication. The Bookseller apologises for this error and any confusion this may have caused.
