Vicar's wife wins deal with Fourth Estate
30.07.07 Alison Flood
Vicar's wife Elisa Beynon has won the first Waitrose Food Illustrated Writing Competition, and a book deal worth £20,000 with Fourth Estate. Benyon's entry of recipes from the vicarage kitchen was ruled by judges, who included Nigel Slater, Fourth Estate's Louise Haynes and Waitrose Food Illustrated editor William Sitwell, to display "enthusiasm, warmth, gentle humour" and "terrific home cooking".
Sitwell said: "Elisa's entry shone because her writing is really accessible and she draws you into her life, into her kitchen and her world of food and cooking. I think that people will love her because she has a natural enthusiasm for her subject that is engaging without being patronising, energetic without being irritating."
