New buyer for Borders
14.09.07 Graeme Neill
Borders has appointed Michael Jones as its new senior fiction buyer, replacing Amy Tipper, who left Borders earlier this year to join Penguin's sales team. Jones joins from Amazon, where she was a category manager.
She will start at Borders on 8th October and will report to books category manager Caroline Mileham. She has previously worked at Books Etc before eventually becoming head of fiction at BCA.
Suzie Dooré, senior editor at Hodder & Stoughton, said: “I worked with Michael at BCA and she was very impressive. She has a real passion for books and a sound knowledge of the market. I think she’ll be great at Borders."
Elsewhere in the business, Dom Kippin has been appointed PR & events executive. He replaces Alistair Spalding and joins the marketing team on 8th October. Kippin was previously sales manager at Borders Bournemouth.
