Portico gets full Monty of wine
14.12.07 Anna Richardson
Portico Books is to publish the companion book to a new Channel 4 television series with wine critic Monty Waldin.
The series, which is produced by Tiger Aspect and is to be broadcast in 2008, charts the efforts of Waldin to make his own wine using organic and biodynamic methods. The tie-in, with the working title Chateau Monty, will be Portico’s lead title next year and will coincide with the broadcast, the date of which is to be confirmed.
Portico Books publisher Tom Bromley said: “The book will appeal to travel fans and wine lovers alike. Monty is very much the rising star of the next generation of wine writers.”
Previous books by Waldin include Mitchell Beazley titles Bordeaux and Tuscany. The deal was negotiated by Gordon Wise of the Curtis Brown agency.
