Mount moves to Little, Brown
Harry Mount, author of last Christmas' surprise hit Amo, Amas, Amat, is leaving independent Short Books for Little, Brown.
Richard Beswick, m.d. of Little, Brown and Abacus, said that a "very generous sum" had changed hands for Mount's A Lust for Window Sills, which he publishes this October. Peter Straus, m.d. at Rogers, Coleridge & White, brokered the deal for UK and Commonwealth rights.
Billed as a "lively, entertaining and affectionate portrait of our history", A Lust for Window Sills deals with arcane architectural trivia as well as taking the reader on a tour of the UK's noteworthy buildings, explaining what makes them unique. In the book, Mount points out that an hour's walk from Smithfield to the National Gallery allows the curious to see every historic building style, and a trip up the M4 reveals some of our greatest country houses and Bronze Age sites.
