Johnson to spend £2m on Borders

The Telegraph takes a close look at new Borders chairman Luke Johnson, and considers the reasons behind the departure of c.e.o. David Roche last week. "[New c.e.o.] Mr Downer is seen as a more willing accomplice than Mr Roche, who is thought to have clashed with Mr Johnson over plans for Borders' future," the newspaper writes.

Former medical student Johnson, who made a fortune from floating Pizza Express, believes "W H Smith was 'mad' not to have bought Borders and could have found a way through the potential regulatory hurdles which stopped it making a bid," according to The Telegraph. He plans to spend "in excess of £2m over the next two years on reviving the business".
