Frank Warren punch-up delayed
A libel trial involving Random House and boxing promoter Frank Warren was adjourned this week over legal technicalities. Warren is suing RH over allegations made in the autobiography of boxer Ricky Hatton, The Hitman: My Story. The case is now likely to be delayed until the autumn.
The Hitman was published in September 2006 but was withdrawn from sale last April after Warren objected to three allegations made in the book, ghosted by Daily Express boxing journalist Niall Hickman. Warren has engaged leading libel lawyers Carter-Ruck to fight his case.
The Hitman was recently reissued as an Ebury paperback. Pending trial, Random House has voluntarily removed the parts of the book that Warren is complaining about.
In a separate case in October Warren was awarded £30,000 compensation in a libel action against the Daily Record.
