Ripley sets up in UK
13.03.08 Graeme Neill
Ripley Publishing, part of the group which bought Guinness World Records, is establishing a UK presence. Ripley Publishing Limited will be based in London and will handle the design and development of the UK "Believe It or Not!" titles.
Miles Kelly Publishing had acted as packager for Ripley's titles for the previous five years, but Norm Deska, executive vice president of intellectual property for Ripley Publishing, said that it was "time for us to take our publishing program to the next level". "With the tremendous growth of our publishing program, we needed stronger, more immediate control over our product development and the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! brand," he said.
Anne Marshall will become publisher of the new company.
Last month Canadian conglomerate The Jim Patterson Group, which owns Ripley Entertainment, acquired Guinness World Records from Hit Entertainment in a deal worth around £60m.
