Protest over Katie Price Nibbie nod
Jordan has sparked a storm by being nominated this year's British Book Awards, reports the Daily Mirror. The glamour model's My Pony Care Book got the nod in the children's category, but according to the newspaper, the Society of Authors has had "scores of complaints", as Jordan does not write her books herself. Writer Joanne Harris said: "This book winning would be depressing beyond anything."Jordan's publishing director Mark Booth said: "I don't see what the fuss is about. It's no different to the way the recordings of The Monkees were done."

I'm not sure that comparing Jordan to performing Monkees has the effect Mark Booth intended...25 Mar 08 09:26

This is entirely different from the Monkees - the Monkees could actually perform and sing! Imagine an artist being nominated for a BRIT award, only for someone else to sing for them all the time, or someone being up for an Oscar, only someone else acts in the film for themm or someone having a painting on display at the Tate, painted by someone else. This simply turns the publishing world into a joke.25 Mar 08 20:20

...but Avery you miss the point....the world of publishing is more often than not a joke.....what other industry except the music industry do you produce so much new product and then hope it that sells? Book Publishers often seem to think marketing is paying for a title to be displayed in a fictional top 10 in Tesco's...so what is the difference of having Jordan 'promote' a title? However I do not think Mark Booth is being fair to the Monkees...they never had plastic surgery to assist there sales efforts. Drugs maybe but the knife....I don't think so.25 Mar 08 21:32
