United Agents debuts at Bologna

United Agents made its first appearance at Bologna and did good business, with a German auction burgeoning for The Wolf of Will Wolfkin, a first teenage novel from Steve Knight (screenwriter of the next Narnia film), and two offers from Italy on the table for Sophie McKenzie's new thriller Blood Ties.
Australian publisher Text, which is moving into the young adult market, also attended the fair for the first time. Sarah Odedina of Bloomsbury welcomed its arrival: "They publish good quality, exciting, literary books and I'm looking at a few things," she said. Odedina also welcomed the reappearance of Sarah Davies, previously Macmillan children's publisher, and now of new literary agency The Greenhouse: "Sarah is someone I've always thought had very good taste, so I'm looking forward to a hand-picked, lovely list."
Meanwhile, Linsay Knight, head of children's books at Random House Australia, described the appointment of Leonie Tyle to create her own imprint in Australia as comparable to the roles of David Fickling and Verna Wilkins of Tamarind. "She is a passionate supporter of her authors and has strong friendships with them as well. Random House is giving an opportunity to very strong publishers to offer intimate individual attention within a global publisher."
