Jack Dee memoir to Transworld

Comedian Jack Dee is going up against Ant and Dec for the autumn 2009 Peter Kay market. Transworld has signed up world rights in a book of "personal memories and experiences”, to be published by Doubleday, after a "hotly contested” auction and for a "substantial” sum. The deal was done with Dee's agent, Addison Cresswell at Off the Kerb.
The publisher said it had been pursuing Dee for three years. Editor Susanna Wadeson said: "I have been a fan of Jack Dee for more than 20 years, and it feels like I've been chasing this book for nearly as long... We could not be more excited to be his publisher."
Dee's thoughts were: "I'm delighted to be associated with Transworld. Especially now I know that they are a prestigious publishing house and not a dodgy sex shop in King's Cross."
