Endless deal for The Works
06.05.08 Graeme Neill
Works administrator Kroll has refused to confirm or deny reports that the discount bookseller has been taken over by private equity company Endless.
The deal was reported to be worth around £17m. Kroll said that no official statement had been released, and refused to comment further on the deal. It indicated that news was first reported in the Birmingham Evening Post.
The deal for the retailer would save around 2,200 jobs. The new team is believed to be headed by Anthony Skitt, former chief executive of ChoicesUK, the DVD, games and music retailer that went into administration last year.
The Works was bought for around £50m by Hermes Private Equity in 2005.
