Random House's CCV has scooped a hat-trick of prizes at the Good Housekeeping magazine's book awards.
At the ceremony on Monday (12th May), Rose Tremain won the best fiction category for The Road Home (Chatto), Sadie Jones won best debut for The Outcast (Chatto) and Ian McEwan (Cape) was voted best author. The non-fiction prize went to Sally Brampton for her memoir Shoot the Damn Dog (Bloomsbury).
Louise Chunn, editor of Good Housekeeping, said of The Road Home: “Rose Tremain has an amazing creative imagination. Her creation Lev, a sad-faced, industrious Eastern European making his way in 21st century London, makes us look again at people we might normally walk by.”
The judges included Radio 4 "Woman’s Hour" broadcaster Jenni Murray, author Victoria Hislop, Chunn and Kerry Fowler, books editor of Good Housekeeping.
A shortlist of 12 titles published in the last twelve months was chosen from an initial selection of more than 200 books nominated by publishers.
