Abse wins Wales book prize
Dannie Abse has won the Wales Book of the Year English language prize for The Presence (Hutchinson), reports BBC online.
The Cardiff-born author penned the book following his wife Joan's death in 2005 to overcome his grief. He beat fellow shortlisted authors Nia Wyn and Tom Bullough, while the Welsh language prize was won by Gareth Miles with Y Proffwyd a’i Ddwy Jesebel (The Prophet and his two Jezebels).
The winners were announced yesterday (1st July) in Cardiff, and both Abse and Miles receive a prize of £10,000.
