Foyles rethinks Charing Cross store

Foyles’ Charing Cross Road branch has undergone a revamp with the gallery and Ray’s Music and Books moving to the third floor and some departments switching location.

The work will be completed by the end of July, and will cost no more than £50,000, Foyles said. Chief executive Sam Husain said the departmental moves were to reduce congestion in certain sections and develop better synergies between departments.

One example is the foreign languages section will now lead into classical texts, which will lead into ancient history titles. Husain said he would also expand the dining area and kitchen of Ray’s Cafe into the area left by Ray’s Music and Books. The retailer is going to stock more art and photography books in the second floor area where the gallery used to be on the second floor.
