Costa launches online book club

Costa has launched a book club on its Costa Book Awards website, to feature monthly book reviews from a range of top literary personalities, with the aim to build an interactive book community online. The Costa Book Club launched today (29th July) at www.costabookawards.com with a review from bestselling author Joanna Trollope--who is a former chair of judges of the awards--of The Towers of Trebizond by Rose Macaulay.

Visitors to the site are encouraged to post comments and submit reviews of the recommended books and share reading suggestions. They can also win copies of the featured books each month.

Kevin Hydes, brand marketing manager at Costa, said the club's aim was to "build a vibrant and lively interactive book community where readers can go for exciting and wide-ranging reading recommendations".

September’s Costa Book Club will feature a recommendation from Alastair Stewart, ITN broadcaster and final judge for the 2005 awards, followed by GMTV presenter Penny Smith’s recommendation in October. Smith recently published her first novel, Coming Up Next, and was on the final judging panel in 2000.
