Free Morpurgo titles for NYR drive
07.08.08 Benedicte Page
Hampshire County Council is to give away 2,500 copies of the HarperCollins title Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo as part of the National Year of Reading's Big Read campaign.
Copies will be left in its libraries, perched on road signs and placed on park benches, with those who find the books encouraged to leave reports on Bookcrossing.com, the website that gets book lovers to leave books out in the open for other readers to find.
Each copy of Private Peaceful will have a sticker on it saying that it is part of the Big Read and a postcard inside which will show readers how to submit their reviews of the book. Hampshire County Council said it hoped the initiative would inspire people to pick up even more books and read more regularly.
