Evening Standard picks literary influentials

The London Evening Standard has chosen Random House chair and c.e.o. Gail Rebuck, Cactus m.d. Amanda Ross, Hachette Livre UK c.e.o. Tim Hely Hutchinson, HarperCollins c.e.o. Victoria Barnsley and Bloomsbury chairman Nigel Newton as its top five most influential people working in literary life in London this year.

The five, who are listed in no particular order, are joined in the top 50 by publisher John Blake, Ted Smart and Seni Glaister of the Book People, Waterstone's m.d. Gerry Johnson and novelists as varied as Katie Price, Robert Harris and Victoria Hislop.

Listed as "up and coming" are Eugenie Furniss of William Morris, Granta editor Alex Clark and debut novelist Sadie Jones. The list appears in the Evening Standard's Influentials guide, launched today, which celebrates the 1,000 people doing the most to shape London.
