Pan Mac makes titles available on iPhone

Pan Macmillan is making free excerpts from bestsellers available on the iPhone. The publisher has done a deal with Lexcycle, maker of Stanza, to offer extracts from books by authors including Clive James, Peter F Hamilton, China Mieville and Neal Asher. More of Pan Mac’s e-book catalogue
will follow over the next 12 months.
Sara Lloyd, digital director of Pan Macmillan, said the publisher had been "watching developments closely" to see which reading applications became most popular on iPhone and had made contact
with Lexcycle about a partnership when Stanza "emerged very quickly as a clear leader in its category".
She added: "This is only the first small step for us into iPhone territory and we intend to extend our programme in partnership with Lexcycle as they development their platform to make buying in-copyright works for Stanza a more streamlined and secure process."
