Seminars

Welcome to The Bookseller.com seminars and conferences page.
The objective of our conference programme is to gather together leaders, commentators, publishers, booksellers, editors and authors to discuss, impart knowledge and generally thrash out all the pertinent issues and developments affecting the book industry in the 21st century.

The Bookseller Children's Annual Conference
30th September 2010 - British Library Conference Centre

This year’s children’s conference will focus on digital developments in the children’s books market and present a vision of where the industry is heading. We will investigate every piece of technology and every platform, channel and medium, discovering how you can utilise all the opportunities they present for every budget.

The conference will also present an overview of the market in these challenging times as the children’s sector sees a slight drop in sales but still outperforms the rest of the trade.

The conference will cover:

Children's sector analysis: overview of the children’s book world in 2010; what sold, what didn’t (Philip Stone, Bookseller's charts editor)

Convergent technology
: working examples of how publishers are using varied technologies and digital platforms to engage and promote their books. See how you can harness the potential of a multi-channel strategy and adapt your brand accordingly.

Social Networks: this ever-changing world is much more than just Facebook and MySpace. See how publishers are leveraging the power of social media to connect with their audience and deliver maximum brand impact. Investigate the scores of opportunities available to you and put forward your questions to a panel of experts.

Rights & Licensing in a Digital world: investigate the impact of digital distribution on your existing copyrights and contracts. A digital rights expert will discuss all the implications for your business.

Marketing: practical advice on how to market your books. How to build your brand and deliver campaigns that appeal to both children and their parents.

Children’s approach: hear how children are using digital media. Discover what they really think and determine the best ways to reach them.
